Cooperation Agreement Signing Ceremony Of First Green Ammonia Project in West Africa

On June 20, 2023, Nanjing KAPSOM Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “KAPSOM”) and DGC signed a contract on the DGHV green ammonia demonstration project in West Africa at the Nanjing headquarters. The project uses green hydrogen and nitrogen in the air as raw materials to produce synthetic ammonia. After completion, it will become Africa’s first fully dynamic carbon-neutral green synthetic ammonia project, and lay the foundation for the commercial application of green ammonia in the later phases.

The total scale of the project is 1.5 GW. And the first phase of the project received funding from the German Federal Ministry of Research and Education and the local government, with the main purpose of producing green hydrogen, green ammonia and their derivatives. The project CEO Jerome said that after the completion of the DGHV project, it will be the first “net zero” village in Africa. In the implementation stage of the first phase of the project, more than 100 jobs will be provided for local residents, and more than 50 long-term jobs will be provided after completion. The project will be provided by KAPSOM with advanced integrated and flexible green ammonia synthesis technology. The project is expected to be implemented in June 2023 and put into operation in the first half of 2024.

West Africa’s world-leading solar and wind energy resources give it a long-term competitive advantage in the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia, and the local government has identified green hydrogen as a new growth engine for the domestic economy. The project is expected to enable the production of green hydrogen and ammonia and the utilization of their derivatives. This will contribute to the sustainable production of green hydrogen and establish green schemes for the storage and transport of ammonium nitrate crops, green hydrogen, ammonia and related derivatives.

“KAPSOM is a leading provider of synthetic ammonia production and low-carbon solutions. We are pleased to cooperate with KAPSOM to build the first green ammonia plant in Africa, which will help improve local food security, achieve fertilizer and energy independence, and It is of great significance to promote my country’s transition to green energy,” said Jerome, CEO of the project.

“We are honored to participate in this project that is of great significance to Africa’s green energy transition, which is in line with our vision of ‘creating a green and carbon-free life’. We are very grateful to DGC for choosing our green ammonia technology and look forward to continuing to cooperate with it in future development”, said Kelvin Yuan, general manager of KAPSOM.
